Pre Call Stretching Video

With the upcoming call on muscular/joint pain and dysfuntion… I see that a lot of the solutions to your aches and pains can be summed up in one word…. stretch.
Before the call, everybody should at the minimum have the following included in their daily routine.
So that you know how, what kind and so on… I put my quickie daily stretch routine for my lower body on video for you. It took me three trys! First one… the sun messed it up… second one…the sound was off! So here it is
The video below contains: My daily stretches for hip flexors, quads, hamstrings, glutes and calves. Total stretch time without me yacking is around 15 minutes…. if you don’t have time for that on a daily basis… you deserve all the pain and dysfunction!

Working Out With Asthma
A lot of people have struggled with their weight for most of their lives and feel like they need to get a handle on it. As you get closer to 30, you feel like your window of opportunity is getting smaller.
One of the big main obstacles I’ve run into with my boot camps is people with asthma. Some people are diagnosed with asthma as a baby and even though the doctors all said they’ll grow out of it, they never do. It really does put limits on your life. After a few serious attacks, most people will get a steroid shot just to keep their lungs from seizing up.
None of these people want excuses to hold the back, but they do feel like they have to tread lightly when tackling exercise. It is frustrating that just as they feel like they can begin to really take a first step in conquering the weight issue, there is another issue that comes up and keeps them from making any progress.
So what can you do and what is a good starting point?
In my experience working with severe asthmatics, what they want more than weight loss is just to feel healthy. To be able to do things. To do things without worrying about an attack and to not feel so limited all the time.
My suggestion is to start small wherever you are with exercise and diet at the same time. Make your workout routine a combination of cardiovascular work and circuit resistance training. Don’t be scared to push yourself to shortness of breath but make sure you have full control of how far you push yourself.
The first steps in diet are to simply up your water intake, eat 5-6 small meals a day and make sure you have 40:30:30 percentage ratio of carbohydrates to proteins to fats when doing your diet planning.
Relatively quickly you will notice that the two combined will start to take the weight off and this then also allows you to do more before your body feels it is working hard. Thus allowing you to do more and on and on it goes.
I’ve seen losses of 30 pounds in five months with this approach in persons with severe asthma.
Dirty 30 And Overhead Squats

Today was a great day to be an online coach
One of our members took up the offer I put out in the members weekly email course to send in a video of themselves working out so I could take a look and make some suggestions on his form.
I did a special workout for Jeff a while back when he said that he would be doing a fitness test shortly for the military with specific testing requirements. Since then, there has been some knee pain and a few other issues so he sent in these videos of himself doing the Dirty 30 workout ( members forum link) as well as some overhead squats.
I did a voice over on the vids and here is what I had to say:
